Howick is facing the same dilemma as many other towns – the RA has just completed a march and a petition in connection with allegations of corruption in the municipality – about which no action has been taken. No notice was taken either of the resident’s demands for action. A recommendation here is that towns with similar problems must compare notes to see what action can be taken. In the case of Howick, there is sufficient grounds for the RA to call for provincial intervention in terms of the Municipal Systems Act.
